Floor-standing furniture does not always sit directly against the wall. Baseboards, trim, uneven walls and the design of the furniture itself can leave a gap between the back of the furniture and the wall.

The Problem
Furniture wall anchoring becomes more difficult when the furniture cannot sit directly against the wall. A baseboard may hold the furniture forward, decorative trim may create a stand-off, or the construction of the furniture itself may leave an intentional gap behind it.
A fixed spacer only works when it matches that particular distance. If the wall is uneven or the gap varies, the required spacing may also change from one fixing point to another.
The Adjustable Solution

Why the Gap Behind Furniture Matters
When furniture is held away from a wall by a baseboard or other obstruction, simply tightening a long screw across the unsupported space is not the same as creating a controlled rigid connection.

How the Furniture Wall Fixing Works
Drill the Fixing Hole
Drill through a suitable structural part of the furniture at the chosen fixing point and continue into the wall.
Insert the Screw
Insert the screw through the structural part of the furniture, through the Space-Plug and into the appropriate wall fixing.
Adjust to the Wall
Turn the Space-Plug until it bridges the gap between the furniture and the wall and fills the gap.
Secure the Furniture
Tighten the screw to create a secure fixing between the furniture and the wall.

Measure the actual distance between the structural fixing point on the furniture and the wall before selecting the appropriate Space-Plug.

Discreet Furniture Wall Anchoring
Where the furniture construction allows, Space-Plug can be positioned behind the furniture and fixed from inside through a suitable structural back or cross-brace. This keeps the principal fixing out of sight rather than adding a visible bracket to the top or side of the furniture.
Important: Choosing the Correct Wall Fixing
Space-Plug does not replace the wall anchor, wall plug or other substrate-specific fixing.
Space-Plug bridges the gap between the furniture and the wall as part of the anchoring system. The screw, wall anchor, wall plug or other fixing used must be suitable for the wall construction, the furniture and the installation.
Where a wall stud or other suitable structural fixing point is required, it should be correctly located and used. If you are unsure which wall fixing is appropriate, seek advice from a competent professional.
Does Every Piece of Furniture Need a Space-Plug?
No. Space-Plug is useful when a suitable item of floor-standing furniture needs securing to the wall and a gap forms part of the fixing problem.
If the furniture can be correctly secured directly to the wall, an adjustable spacer may provide no additional benefit. Likewise, if the furniture does not provide a suitable structural fixing point, Space-Plug should not be used simply because a gap exists.
Can Space-Plug Be Used as an Anti-Tip Furniture Fixing?
Space-Plug can form part of a rigid wall tie-back for suitable floor-standing furniture where the furniture construction, wall fixing and installation conditions are appropriate.
